Quanta Computer reportedly has landed orders from Cisco Systems for the production of the US vendor's Telepresence Internet conference systems, according to market sources in Taiwan.

In addition to the Telepresence orders, Cisco may also purchase WiMAX CPE products from Taiwan-based network equipment makers as the company has secured orders for NGN (new generation network) equipment from WiMAX operator Clearwire, the sources noted.

The WiMAX orders are likely to be realized in the second half of 2009, according to sources at makers that have been contacted by Cisco. The US vendor is also expected to release the WiMAX orders via its subsidiary Linksys, the sources indicated.
