Front projector shipments to the Taiwan market decreased 11.9% sequentially and 17.7% on year to 20,200 units in the first quarter of 2009, according to IDC.
The Taiwan front projector market is estimated to shrink 5-10% on year to 85,000-88,000 units in 2009 from 93,000 units in 2008, according to Taiwan Epson.
Government procurement and educational market demand will account for 60% of the total shipments in 2009, up from 40% in 2008, market sources noted.
Shipments of 2,500-3,000 lumen models had a share of 32.6%, exceeding 2,000-2,499 lumen models in the first quarter because of significant price drops, the sources added.
Shipments of XGA models' share remained at 70% in the first quarter, while SVGA's share dropped to 17.1% due to weak demand, the sources said.
