Kenmec Mechanical Engineering, a Taiwan-based EMS (electronics manufacturing service) provider and maker of automation equipment, will roll out its first turn-key production line for amorphous silicon (a-Si) thin-film photovoltaic (PV) modules in May 2009, with such equipment being validated by potential clients in Taiwan and China, according to the company.
Kenmec will make the automation equipment for the turn-key production lines, but key manufacturing equipment such as PECVD ( plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition) systems will be procured from international suppliers based on clients' needs, the company pointed out. The turn-key production line can trun out PV modules with energy conversion rates of 7-8%, Kenmec indicated.
Kenmec also plans to offer CIGS (coper-indium-gallium-selenide) thin-film turn-key production equipment in 2010, the company noted.
In related news, Kenmec's EMS division in January 2009 began OEM production of Blu-ray Disc players for retail channels in the US and Europe, with monthly shipment volume of 3,000-5,000 units starting this month, the company indicated.
