Tecom shipping WiMAX remote radio head components to Samsung

Telecom equipment maker Tecom has begun to ship remote radio heads for use in WiMAX base stations to Samsung Electronics, with shipments to continue until the end of this year, according to the company.

With its well-developed remote radio head module manufacturing capabilities, Tecom also hopes to expand its cooperation with Samsung to include other WiMAX products, the company noted.

With increasing WiMAX shipments, the company is expected to see a strong sequential growth in revenues in the fourth quarter of this year, according to company president Wesley Huang.

Sources at Taiwan-based securities houses have projected the company is to post revenues of NT$2.75 billion (US$84.6 million) in the third quarter.
