Demand for LCD monitors in the Taiwan market was low at about 300,000 units in the second quarter. Shipments were down 15-20% compared to the first quarter, according to market sources.

Due to the tax season, floods in middle and southern Taiwan, rising materials costs and market saturation, LCD monitor shipments in the second quarter were down 15-20%, the sources noted.

Industry players indicated that monthly LCD monitor shipments in the first quarter of 2008 were down between 20-30% from the 130,000-140,000 units shipped per month in the fourth quarter 2007, while monthly shipments fell to less than 100,000 units in the second quarter.
