Taiwan-based memory module maker Transcend Information saw record shipments of NAND flash and DRAM products in 2007, which went up 126% compared to 2006, according to company sources.
In 2007, Transcend shipped more than 13 million units of DRAM modules and more than 45 million units of NAND flash products, the sources said.
For the fourth quarter of 2007, Transcend's NAND flash product shipments reached 11.5 million units due to Christmas season demand in the US and Europe and the company's rising share in emerging markets, the sources said, adding the company shipped a record 4.3 million flash drives in the fourth quarter, up 90% compared to the third quarter.
Transcend expects January 2008 sales to rebound 18% sequentially to NT$3.03 billion after seeing drops for two consecutive months, the sources said.
Transcend's 2007 revenues totaled NT$36.78 billion, up 42% from 2006, with a net income of NT$2.72 billion.
Meanwhile, fellow memory module maker A-Data Technology reported a 20.9% sequential increase in sales for January, rallied by a rebound in DRAM spot prices. For the month, DRAM modules accounted 55% of sales, and NAND flash products 45%, according to the company.
