Taiwan shipped 31.9 million LCD monitors in the second quarter 2007, with the total shipments representing sequential growth of 16.8% and on-year growth of 38.7%. The growth, rather unexpectedly high during a traditionally low season, was driven by considerable drops in prices for larger-size and widescreen monitors, which stimulated demand. Monitor vendors, seeing monitor panel prices rising, also made an early start to building up their inventory levels for the high season, fueling growth further in the second quarter.
