At Computex Taipei 2007 (June 5-9), Taiwan-based players may gain orders worth more than US$1 billion, with top items including PCs, digital photo frames, GPS devices, CD/VCD/DVD players, and digital music players, according to Taipei Computer Association (TCA), the organizer of the event.

This year, one of the focuses of the show is digital life while the sector of PC and peripherals is also a major one, with Microsoft's Vista operating system (OS) hitting the market and Intel's introduction of the Santa Rosa platform for notebooks, TCA indicated.

Additionally, digital photo frames are a buyer's favorite this year at Computex, as more major players are pushing the segment and panel prices for the segment have been falling, TCA noted.

For digital music players, new features including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are highlighted at the show. Portable communication devices with embedded GPS chips are also new to the show this year. Car-use GPS devices, able to receive digitally broadcast traffic updates and adjust the suggested itinerary to avoid traffic jams are also being pushed by various makers, TCA said.

Furthermore, information security applications are also highlighted. Products including IP cameras and fingerprint flash drives that apply biometric recognition technology are attracting visitors' attention. Besides, visitors can also join the fresh introduction of solar cell powered keyboards, TCA added.
