Vibo Telecom, one of the five operators of 3G mobile communication services in Taiwan, will expand its paid-in capital by NT$5.0 billion (US$150 million) in the third quarter, according to company chairman Rock Hsu at a press conference on May 15.

For the capital expansion, Vibo will not preclude foreign investors, Hsu pointed out.

The Kinpo-Compal Group, of which Vibo is a member and Hsu is the chairman, will cooperate with Tecom, a maker of network equipment in Taiwan, to compete for a WiMAX operating license, Hsu said. If the license is obtained, Vibo will adopt base station equipment produced by Tecom to operate WiMAX mobile communication services, Hsu pointed out.
