Yageo seeking to expand into inductor sector

, Taipei
0

Yageo, the largest maker of passive components in Taiwan, plans to team up with some small inductor makers in the form of a joint-venture or other partnerships to strengthen its product range, according to sources with the company.

But any venture will be only be a minor one considering Yageo's business size and its history of acquisition, and it will not affect the company's current strategic partnership with inductor maker Chilisin Electronics, the sources indicated.

Chilisin maintained that Yageo has demand for a wide variety of inductors and it is natural for Yageo to secure sufficient sources for the products.

Chilisin said that its partnership with Yageo will remain intact despite Yageo's new plan.

Industry observers indicated that it is likely that Yageo will team with makers of coil inductors, which Chilisin does not offer.
