Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS)’s 0.18-micron process capacity is now fully occupied by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and the foundry will boost its 0.18-micron capacity further to 10,000 wafers in the third quarter upon request, according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report citing investors.

VIS’s 0.18-micron output had picked up to 2,500-2,700 wafers in March on growth of TSMC’s communications chip orders, up from several hundred wafers per month, the report noted.
