Driven by rising demand, the ASP (average selling price) for 15.4-inch widescreen notebook panels rose US$9 in the first half of September while the ASP for 15-inch notebook panels also increased US$8, according to WitsView Technology.
The ASP for 15.4-inch widescreen notebook panels and 15-inch notebook panels currently stand at US$152 and US$148, respectively, the research firm noted.
AU Optronics (AUO) predicted that prices for notebook panels could increase US$20 in the third quarter. The company also indicated tight supply will persist through the fourth quarter.
Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) has also forecast that demand in the third quarter will grow 13.4% on-quarter. In response to strong demand, CPT aims to ship 1.9 million notebook panels in the second half of this year, up from 1.169 million units in the first half.
