Taiwan-based Kinpo, an affiliate of Compal Electronics, yesterday unveiled its iDo-brand pocket PC phone (S600) for the local Taiwan market, with the company planning to launch global sales by the end of the year, according to company sources.
The company expects to sell 30,000-40,000 S600 smartphones this year and 300,000 units next year, the sources noted.
Kinpo will unveil an additional smartphone (S601) by the end of this year, the sources said, adding that the new phone will have W-Fi connectivity.
The introduction of iDo-branded smartphones will not affect the OEM/ODM handset business of Compal Communications, the main handset affiliate of the Compal Group, the sources stated.
