Three-year-old IT start-up A-data Technology enjoyed 2003 revenues of NT$13.4 billion, advancing to become the largest DRAM module maker in Taiwan. According to rankings provided by iSuppli, A-data is also the largest memory module maker in the Asia Pacific region.
In January 2004, A-data became the first Taiwanese company to complete DDR2 module validation and mass production. A-data’s advanced Vitesta 533MHz DDR2 DIMM was validated by Intel, joining Kingston Technology, Buffalo, Corsair, Crucial and Simple Tech. A-data is the only Taiwan company to have an Intel-validated 533MHz DDR2 DIMM.
A-data’s Vitesta 533MHz DDR2 DIMM has also been tested by Taiwan’s top three motherboard makers, and will be featured at Computex 2004.
A-data’s 533MHz and the even faster 677MHz DDR2 DIMMs are fully JEDEC-compliant, and feature off-chip-driver calibration (OCD), on-die termination(ODT), and posted CAS. The 0.10-micron FBGA-packaged DDR2 memory chips support capacity up to 4Gbits, and the 240-pin modules will have capacity up to 512MB and bandwidth up to 4.3GB, increasing data speed and saving power by about 100% over previous generation modules.
The Vitesta DDR2 modules also have a unique key or “notch” in their connector that must match the memory socket, to prevent accidental insertion into an incompatible motherboard.
A-data will be displaying its full range of products at the Computex 2004 show (Hall 1, 202-208).
