K-Bridge Electronics has received LCD monitor backlight module orders from Japan’s Fujitsu, said company vice president Cheng Ting Tung at yesterday’s shareholders meeting.

The company plans to begin shipments of 19-inch LCD monitor backlight modules to the Japanese company this July, with initial shipments of about 30,000 units, Cheng added.

Besides shipping backlight modules to Japan, K-Bridge also plans to increase shipments to Taiwan’s TFT LCD makers.

K-Bridge’s existing customers include AU Optronics (AUO), Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT), Quanta Display, Sharp Electronics (Taiwan) and ProArch Technology. Shipments to CPT and Quanta account for 64% and more than 30%, respectively, of its total shipments.

April shipments of K-Bridge backlight modules remained flat on March (620,000 units), and the company expects 2004 backlight module prices to decrease 3-5% from 2003 prices, according to chairman Tsai Han Chiang.

K-Bridge has also released its financial forecast for 2004, with April sales estimates reaching NT$610 million, a 2% rise on month but 168% on year.

The company optimistically expects a five-fold jump in 2004 pre-tax profits and three-fold jump in net profits.
