Sharp to market world’s first Transmeta Efficeon notebooks in January

Sharp will introduce new models to its Mebius Muramasa range of slim-type notebooks in January, Japan Corporate News Network (JCNN) reported today.

The PC-MM2-5NE, due out January 2, features Transmeta’s latest high-performance 1.0GHz TM8600 Efficeon processor, a 10.4-inch LCD, 256MB of memory, a 20GB hard drive, ATI’s Mobility Radeon graphics accelerator chip and 100Base-TX/10Base-T LAN connectivity, JCNN said.

The ultra-light notebook measures 251×206×15.7mm, weighs 910g, and stays operational for up to 11 hours when powered by an optional high-capacity battery.

PC-MM2-1 models will be available beginning January 23, according to JCNN.
