HannStar Display reportedly sent a team to the Tainan Science-Based Industrial Park (TSIP) on January 3 to study the feasibility of building a fifth-generation (5G) TFT LCD production line there. The park has three parcels of land available for consideration. Companies based in science parks can enjoy an exemption from tariffs on imported equipment. The exemption could result in savings of as much as NT$1 billion on equipment for a NT$30 billion 5G line. Therefore, the TSIP might be at the top of HannStar’s list.
