DIGITIMES surveyed the global top five notebook brands (excluding Apple) and the top three notebook ODM shipments in May 2025 (excluding detachable models). May marked the traditional peak season for the North American education sector, with Chromebook and other educational device shipments increasing compared to April.
With most notebook brands already ramping up inventory starting in May to meet their first half shipment targets and China's 618 e-commerce shopping festival promotion began a month earlier than usual, their shipment performance in May is expected to be stronger compared to April.
Overall, shipments in May 2025 rose by 12% month-over-month but declined by 2% year-over-year compared to May 2024.
