Quanta Computer and Compal Electronics, two of Taiwan's largest notebook contract manufacturers, posted April shipment declines exceeding 30% as a wave of orders pulled into late March left the following month with little to fill. The drop reflects a familiar quarter-end timing pattern rather than a demand collapse, executives said.
Quanta shipped 3.5 million notebooks in April, down 33.96% from March but still up 6.06% from a year earlier. April revenue came in at NT$339.921 billion, off 6.3% month on month. Cumulative revenue for the first four months reached NT$1.15 trillion, up 79.6% year on year.
Compal's April PC shipments totaled 1.8 million units, down 35.71% from March and 18.18% below April 2025. Revenue for the month was NT$71.979 billion. First-quarter cumulative revenue reached NT$273.283 billion, up 4.5% year on year — a gain driven largely by non-PC lines including servers and smart devices rather than notebooks.
Both companies pointed to an inflated March baseline, when customers accelerated orders ahead of quarter-end, as the primary cause of April's sequential weakness. Compal flagged the episode as part of a broader revenue mix shift away from consumer notebooks toward enterprise hardware, and said its server business is on track for significant growth in the second quarter.
