China's Ministry of Commerce imposed export restrictions on eight Taiwan-based defense contractors, including Aerospace Industrial Development Corp., cutting off access to dual-use materials and rare earth elements.
The controls, effective immediately, target companies across Taiwan's military-industrial complex: AIDC, Geosat, National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology, JC Tech, CSBC Corporation, Jong Shyn Shipbuilding, Lungteh Shipbuilding, and Gong Wei Defense.
Supply chain disruption strategy
Beijing will prohibit all dual-use items, including rare earth materials, from reaching the eight firms. Existing export activities must halt immediately, with future shipments requiring ministry approval.
The targeted companies span Taiwan's aerospace, defense manufacturing, and shipbuilding industries — sectors considered critical to the island's defense capabilities.
Military-grade materials targeted
The restrictions appear designed to disrupt Taiwan's military supply chain, particularly affecting access to military-grade rare earths and advanced technology components that underpin the island's defense industrial base, according to analysts.
