Wistron inaugurated its global operations headquarters at the Zhubei AI park in Hsinchu County on June 19, 2025, with Vice President Bi-khim Louise Hsiao in attendance. Hsiao underscored the strength of Taiwan's AI industry and the need for ongoing governmental discussions with the US.

Hsiao highlighted Taiwan's comprehensive and adaptable AI supply chain as a significant competitive edge. She emphasized that Taiwan's involvement is crucial for the US to achieve leadership in AI and industrialization. The vice president attributed this advantage to the collaborative efforts of industry, government, and academia in Taiwan.

From diplomatic service to tech advocacy

In her speech, Hsiao reflected on her broadened perspectives from frequent visits to Zhubei, humorously suggesting that an earlier focus on STEM might have enabled her to contribute more to society. She applauded Wistron as a testament to commitment to business growth, employee development, and Taiwan's progress, emphasizing talent cultivation and support for Taiwanese companies' global expansion.

The vice president highlighted Taiwan's leadership in the AI era, emphasizing the country's innovative use of AI in social operations. She noted that Taiwanese companies are creating significant solutions in various tech fields, including semiconductor chips and application services, positioning Taiwan as a crucial force in the global tech ecosystem.

Government backs "AI island" vision

Hsiao noted that AI is a key focus in President William Lai's Five Trusted Industry Sectors plan. The government aims to enhance education, healthcare, and learning with AI, positioning Taiwan as an "AI island." Continued support will address industry needs, ensuring Taiwan's vital role in the global AI supply chain and its standing as a trusted international partner.
