The global top-5 notebook brands, not including Apple, together witnessed their first on-year shipment growth for nearly 20 months in August 2023 at 4%. Compared to July, their shipments were up 8%, driven mainly by vendors' inventory preparation for peak season, according to DIGITIMES Research's latest notebook shipment update for August.

Among the top-5 brands, Lenovo and Hewlett-Packard (HP) both enjoyed an over 25% on-month increase in August shipments. Lenovo is still working keenly on digesting its inventory, while HP is mainly pushing its consumer model shipments for the year-end holiday season in North America. Dell had performed the worst within the top-3 due to the enterprise sectors' sluggish sales, DIGITIMES Research's figures show.

The global top-3 ODMs' combined shipments were flat from a month ago in August with Quanta having performed the best in the top-3 thanks to increased orders from HP.
