Taiwan PCB Techvest (TPT) has disclosed plans to set up a new plant in Vietnam that will produce PCBs for optoelectronics and notebook applications.

The new plant will require a capital input of VND432.4 billion (US$18.593 million), with the construction slated for completion by year-end 2023 before kicking off volume production in 2024.

Company chairman Hsu Cheng-min said the new capacity deployment is to cope with the needs of its customers, which plan to relocate their correspondent production to Vietnam, adding that the company will also solicit new orders from local clients.

Currently, TPT operates one factory in Taoyuan, Taiwan, and three other plants in China.

Hsu said TPT is conservative about the PCB industry's prospects for 2023, as demand from the consumer electronics market is expected to remain weak.

Hsu commented that the PCB industry may not see its shipments increase significantly until the third quarter of 2023.

In addition to continuing to focus on the notebook, optoelectronics, and automotive sectors, Hsu noted that TPT will also enhance its deployment in thin line and DHI boards catering to high-speed transmission and IoT applications.

For automotive applications, TPT will provide customers with related products for ADAS Level 2 high-reliable radar sensing devices and signal loss solutions.

The company reported earlier that it posted a net profit of NT$1.678 billion (US$55.374 million) on revenue of NT$21.977 billion in 2022.
