India has seen its number of industrial robots installed rise by over 50% during Indian PM Narendra Modi's "Make in India" campaign, while Apple is relatively resilient in India's declining smartphone shipments.

According to the International Federation of Robotics, sales of installed industrial robots in India reached 4,945 units in 2021, a 54% rise from a year ago, ranking India as one of the top 10 countries for industrial robot installation.

India smartphone shipment declined 16% in 1Q23, Xiaomi saw more than 40% fall

According to IDC's latest market tracker, due to weak consumer demand, uncertain macroeconomic conditions, and high inventory levels, smartphone shipments in India declined by 16% year-on-year to 31 million units in the first quarter of 2023, the lowest first-quarter record in four years.

iPhone's share in India's refurbished smartphone market surges

Financial Times quoted data from Counterpoint showing that iPhone accounted for 11% of refurbished smartphone sales in India in 2022, up from 3% in the previous year. Glen Cardoza, an analyst at Counterpoint, said that older iPhones, such as iPhone 6, still have a market in India, and newer 5G-equipped iPhones were particularly precious there.

Maruti Suzuki expects chip shortage to ease in 2Q23

Business Standard quoted Shashank Srivastava, a senior executive of marketing and sales of Maruti Suzuki, saying that the automaker expects some recovery in chip shortage in the June quarter.

India's active internet user base to reach 900 million by 2025

The Hindu reported that according to a joint report by IAMAI and Kantar, there are 759 million monthly active internet users in India, which is expected to reach 900 million by 2025.
