Taiwan-based MiTAC Holding has responded to recent market speculation regarding its acquisition of Intel's datacenter solutions group (DSG), stating that the handover will begin in July 2023.

According to MiTAC, MiTAC Computing Technology (MCT) will take over Intel's DSG business and obtain authorization for DSG products and services. The acquisition will expand MCT's customers, products, and services, as well as increase MCT's competitive strength within the industry.

MiTAC has not disclosed the terms of the deal.

MCT is a subsidary of MiTAC Group and is responsible for its server ODM and brand business.

MCT was previously the ODM for Intel DSG's business products, making the transaction more of a business transfer. MCT will take over sales and services from Intel DSG and absorb related profits and revenue.

MiTAC noted that server customers are still undergoing inventory adjustments in the first half of 2023 and that pull-in momentum is weak. MiTAC believes growth in the second half is possible, especially with the Intel DSG acquisition.

MiTAC expects growth for the year to be flat with 2022. The market estimates server shipments in 2023 will grow by low single digits compared with 2022.
