PCB equipment maker Taliang Technology has said it will deepen its deployment in the high-end PCB and ABF substrate manufacturing equipment in 2023, thanks to clear order visibility.
According to company CFO CC Chang, Taliang has also received more semiconductor equipment orders in the fourth quarter of 2022 and expects related order dynamics to continue into 2023.
Despite a decline in the capacity utilization at Taiwan-based ABF substrate makers in fourth-quarter 2022, Chang believes demand for ABF manufacturing equipment will remain robust in 2023 as related makers continue expanding their capacities.
Japanese suppliers currently dominate the local ABF manufacturing equipment market, Chang noted.
According to Chang, Taliang was originally to ship its ABF equipment to one of the top three Taiwan-based ABF substrate makers this year. However, related shipments will be delayed until 2023 due to a client's expansion project slowdown.
Regarding PCB equipment, Taliang has been focusing on developing high-end, automated models with a higher profit margin.
Chang expects shipments of PCB manufacturing equipment to Southeast Asia will increase significantly in 2023 and beyond, as many PCB makers are relocating their capacities to the region.
According to market sources, Taliang has the highest share in Taiwan's high-end PCB forming machine market, and its PCB drilling machine prices are competitive globally.
Concerning semiconductor equipment, the firm currently focuses on backend packaging and testing equipment. However, it is increasing its offerings to include front-end wafer visual inspection tools and real-time monitoring modules for CMP (chemical-mechanical polishing) pad applications.
The company reported a net profit of NT$16.74 million on revenue of NT$520 million (US$17.16 million) in the third quarter of 2022. Third-quarter gross margin stood at 15.58% compared to 27.67% a year earlier.
