SEA roundup: Foxconn and PTT reportedly in talks with China-based Hozon EV

Horizon Plus, the joint venture established by Taiwan-based Foxconn and Thai state-owned energy group PTT, is reportedly in talks with Chinese carmaker Hozon to build electric vehicles (EV) in Thailand, Nikkei Asia has reported. Horizon Plus is planning to invest US$1-2 billion in building an EV factory in eastern Thailand, according to the report.

Singapore to require cyber security service provider to get licensed

According to the Strait Times, Singapore is launching a licensing framework regarding cyber security on April 11. Cyber security service providers in the country will have to apply for licenses within the next six months. The new rule is expected to help customers needing cyber security services identify credible service providers in Singapore.

VinFast files for an US IPO

According to Reuters, Singapore-based VinFast Trading and Investment filed for an US IPO last Thursday to fund namesake EV maker VinFast to expand in the US. The Vietnamese conglomerate plans to spend US$4 billion on building a factory complex in the US.

GoTo debuts on April 11 in Indonesia

According to Reuters, Indonesia's largest tech group GoTo debuted on April 11 on the local stock exchange after raising US$1.1 billion in its IPO. GoTo is formed by Indonesia's largest ride-hailing company Gojek and e-commerce company Tokopedia.

Thailand computer market likely to see shortages mid-2022

According to Bangkok Post, as China continues to go into COVID lockdowns, Thailand's computer market is expecting a shortage around May and June this year, said local IT distributor Advice, which revealed that they have inventories enough for 2-3 months.
