Getac Holding is expanding production capacity for die casting automotive parts by 100% at its factory in Hanoi, northern Vietnam, with the additional capacity to gradually come into operation beginning in 2022, according to company chairman and president James Hwang.

The existing production capacity at the factory is expected to reach full utilization later in March or April and will then be insufficient to meet increasing demand, Hwang said, adding that this is the reason for expanding the production capacity.

MPT Solution, Getac's subsidiary maker of plastic injection molding structural components, has adopted RHCM (rapid heat cycle molding) processing to produce carbon-fiber plastic casings of notebooks and has won orders from major notebook vendors, Hwang noted. MPT has used recycled plastic materials to make plastic structural components, a bid to enhance environmental friendliness, Hwang indicated.

Die casting automotive parts and plastic structural components together accounted for 50% of 2021 consolidated revenues, ruggedized computing devices for 45%, aerospace fasteners for 5%, Hwang said.

For ruggedized computing devices, Getac focuses on hardware-software integration through setting up a platform to provide software services on a subscription basis, with police and fire-fighting agencies, and furthermore, operators of transportation, logistics, and public facilities are target users, Hwang noted. Getac is in transformation from a maker of ruggedized computing devices to a system integration provider, Hwang indicated.

Getac has reported consolidated revenues of NT$2.286 billion (US$82.2 million) for February, decreasing 13.53% on month but increasing 21.23% on year, and consolidated revenues of NT$4.929 billion for January-February, rising 10.34% on year. Based on orders received, the company expects 2022 consolidated revenues to grow 8-12% on year.

Getac has decided to distribute a cash dividend per share of NT$3.60 for 2021 operation, accounting for 50.00% of the corresponding net EPS of NT$7.20.
