Advantech will release MarketPlace 2.0 under its WISE-PaaS (platform as a service) in January 2020 to allow clients to customize software services they need.
MarketPlace 2.0 will have a concept similar to Apple's App Store and Advantech will transform all software services that the smart manufacturing industry needs to become individual app, according to the company. Clients can then choose whichever apps that fit their demand to build a customized service package.
Although Advantech's solution ready platform (SRP) is able to satisfy a majority of market demand, the company has discovered that some of its clients only need a few of its SRP's functionalities, while some need extra features that are not included. Therefore; instead of de-coupling the SRP and then refactoring needed functionalities to create customized solutions for specific clients, Advantech said its MarketPlace 2.0 will allow customers to build their solutions and make their services' deployment more efficient.
In MarketPlace 2.0, Advantech is categorizing its services into five major application segments: smart factory, smart city, smart retail, smart medical care and smart energy, while in terms of product types, they are separated into four major areas: edge.SRP, common app, industry app and domain-focused app.
MarketPlace 2.0 will also offer consulting services and provide a guiding list to help firms from different industries to find services and plan their needs, the company said.
