Automated optical inspection (AOI) equipment supplier Utechzone saw its revenues rise 4.77% on year to NT$246 million (US$8.07 million) in June, but the monthly figure represents a 20.6% sequential decline.
For the first half of 2018, revenues totaled NT$1.231 billion, increasing 6.53% from a year earlier.
Utechzone is expected to see its sales momentum continue in the second half of 2018, buoyed by peak seasonal effects and robust demand from clients, according to industry observers.
The aggressive capacity ramps by PCB and LCD panel makers combined with industrial upgrades in the packaging, COF, flexible PCB and substrate sectors driven by the ongoing 5G developments has triggered increasing demand for AOI equipment, according to company sources.
The company's AOI equipment has found their way into the supply chain of a number of flexible PCB makers in China, as well as Samsung Electronics' flexible PCB supply chain in the first half of 2018, the sources indicated.
Meanwhile, the company is expected to benefit from a slew of emerging market trends, including the rise of automotive electronics industry, the release of new iPhone devices by Apple in the second half, and the integration of rigid and flexible PCB production, said market observers.
Being the largest supplier of AOI equipment to the COF packaging sector currently, Utechzone's shipments are expected to grow significantly in the second half of 2018, added the observers.
Additionally, the company will also begin shipping LCD panel inspection equipment to the 8.6G and 10.5G LCD fabs in China in the second half of the year.
