Taiwan's top-three telecom operators continued to post handsome profits in August, with Taiwan Mobile reporting the highest EPS of NT$0.53 for the month, followed by NT$0.42 of Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) and NT$0.32 of Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET).
For the first eight months of 2018, Taiwan Mobile also recorded the highest EPS of NT$3.87, followed by CHT's NT$3.46 and FET's NT$2.38.
However, CHT saw its revenues drop 6.7% on year to NT$18.37 billion (US$612.22 million) in August, and year-to-date revenues also dipped 2.8% on year to NT$147.2 billion. Net profits for the January-August period reached NT$26.86 billion, down 8.3% on year.
CHT said it had a total of 7.316 million subscribers to its mobile Internet services at the end of August.
Taiwan Mobile posted revenues of NT$9.56 billion and net profits of NT$1.45 billion for August. Year-to-date revenues reached NT$75.62 billion and net earnings amounted to NT$10.54 billion.
Meanwhile, FET reported revenues of NT$7.507 billion and net earnings of NT$1.032 billion for August. For the January-August period, revenues came to NT$59.22 billion, and net profits were NT$7.77 billion.
