As of April 1, 2017, CTIA LTE MIMO OTA test plan for MIMO downlink version 1.1 has become mandatory for certification testing, which means the smart hand-held manufacturers who intend to obtain the CTIA certification will need to conduct MIMO OTA test in a third-party lab.
For this reason, the demands for MIMO OTA have emerged. As the first batch of CTIA authorized MIMO OTA Lab in Asia, iST indicated, so far it has received many inquiries from the customers in the scope of smart hand-held device, telecommunication and communication system.
CTIA (Cellular Telephone Industries Association), a global non-profit organization founded in 1984. CTIA vigorously advocates at all levels of wireless products and IoT industry. The wireless communication trade show hosted by CTIA is considered as the biggest global event specific to wireless field, which has lasted for more than 20 years.
Because the rise of 4G, the curtain of SISO (single-input single-output) fell and replaced by MIMO antenna (Multi-path), the latter has become the tidal wave of wireless communication.
Since the channel model is becoming more complex, the communication system manufacturers need to verify MIMO antenna and its system efficiency through a MIMO OTA test for the accurate simulation and channel model generation. Hence, the birth of CTIA mandatory test standard has reached a final goal and ended the continued chaos of LTE MIMO OTA test.
