Neo Solar Power (NSP) plans to set up annual PV module production capacity of 400MWp in Vietnam through a joint venture with Vietnam-based Vina Solar Technology, according to industry sources.
Established by China-based enterprises, Vina Solar has annual capacity of 3,000MWp to mainly undertake OEM production of PV modules for China- and Taiwan-based PV makers to avoid anti-dumping tariffs in the US and Europe markets, the sources said.
In early 2016, Vina Solar also started solar cell production with initial annual capacity of 200MWp and plans to expand the capacity to 1,000MWp by the end of 2016, the sources indicated.
NSP has annual PV module capacity of about 300MWp in Taiwan and about 200MWp in China, the sources said. For the joint-venture in Vietnam, NSP will shift most of the capacity in Taiwan to Vietnam and leave the remaining for R&D and trial production, the sources indicated.
NSP aims to ship PV modules of more than 900MWp in 2016, the sources noted.
