China-based tablet component makers and ODMs, including Shenzhen Zowee Technology, Shenzhen DPT-Touch, 3Nod Electronics and Camerking, have offered lower quotes to compete with Taiwan-based makers for orders from Taiwan- and China-based vendors, according to industry sources.

China vendors in particular will be a major focus for suppliers but will also pose some of the biggest challenges due to demand for lower-prices. Vendors are continuing to use low-priced solutions to gain market share and supply chains are expected to deliver in accordance.

Vendors are aiming at increasing 10- and 11-inch 2-in-1 tablets for the China market during 2015 in addition to various touch notebook and wearable devices during the year, supply chain sources noted.

There will be 221.4 million tablets shipped globally in 2015, slipping 11.9% on year, according to a Digitimes Research Special Report. Leading the market will be Apple, with iPad shipments of 54.2 million units, representing a decrease on year of 16.6%, the report, titled 2015 global tablet demand forecast notes. Other leading international vendors will combine to ship 90.7 million units, growing 0.1%. The white-box market will show the biggest decrease, with shipments falling 20.0% to 76.5 million, Digitimes Research indicated.
