First-tier China-based vendors including Huawei Device, ZTE, Coolpad, Lenovo and Oppo have launched or will launch high-end smartphones in the China market at relatively low prices to compete with Apple and Samsung Electronics, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.
The vendors are increasing their range of high-end smartphones in China but at mid-range prices, the sources said, adding that the strategy is important in order to increase their market share in the nation.
Pricing for the smartphones are approximately CNY$2,000 (US$325), the sources added.
The sources also noted that Oppo has sold about 400,000-500,000 units of its Oppo Find 5 in the China market since the smartphone's release.
