Taiwan-based notebook chassis and component makers Getac Technology and Bin Chuan Enterprise have announced their revenues for April with Getac saw drop and Bin Chuan achieved growth.
Getac reported consolidated revenues of NT$1.21 billion (US$41.27 million) for April, down 13.66% on month and 2.36% on year, while combined consolidated revenues for the first four months of 2012 grew 5.48% on year and reached NT$4.91 billion. In addition to its stable shipment growth in rugged PC business, the company's glass fiber reinforced plastic chassis has also already started shipping in April.
Getac pointed out that the declines in April revenues are due to its clients are in the middle of products transitioning and therefore, parts of the orders have been postponed to May.
Meanwhile, Bin Chuan has announced consolidated revenues of NT$323 million for April, up 1.57% on month and 33.29% on year, with combined consolidated revenues from January to April reached NT$1.08 billion, up 56.31% on year.
For ultrabook, Bin Chuan estimates that its shipments for ultrabook-related products will grow slightly in the second quarter with mass shipments unlikely to start until the third quarter.
