Topco Scientific, which distributes semiconductor materials and equipment, reported February revenues of NT$1.03 billion (US$35 million), up 7.49% on month but down 7.63% on year. Accumulated revenues of the first two months of 2012 reached NT$1.989 billion, down 12.78% on year.
The market predicts Topco's first-quarter 2012 revenues will be flat compared to fourth-quarter 2011.
Major client Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has seen capacity utilization up to 95% and plans to expand capacity to meet the strong demand in the second half of 2012 according to market rumors. These are all good news for Topco.
Topco's OEM wafer business has been steady due to continuous demand from customers.
Topco indicated that close to 96% of February revenues were from sales of semiconductor equipment and materials. Other businesses such as OEM LED lighting fixtures also contributed to total revenues. It is likely Topco's March revenues will grow 8% on month, said industry sources.
