Japan-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment posted a book-to-bill ratio of 0.83 for October 2011, up from 0.75 in September, according to new figures from the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ).
Orders for semiconductor equipment made in Japan were JPY81.19 billion (US$1.06 billion) in October, up 2.2% from the revised level of JPY79.48 billion in September, according to SEAJ. But compared to the JPY120.41 billion in orders posted in October 2010, bookings declined 32.6%.
Billings came to JPY97.59 billion in October 2011, down 8.3% from JPY106.45 billion in the prior month, according to SEAJ. Compared to the JPY107.56 billion in billings posted a year ago, the figure slid 9.3%.
Statistics from SEMI show that North America-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment posted a book-to-bill ratio of 0.74 in October 2011, up from 0.71 in September.
