Japan fab-tool book-to-bill continues slide in August, says SEAJ

Japan-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment posted a book-to-bill ratio of 0.76 in August 2011, compared to 0.84 in July and 0.96 in June, according to new figures from the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ). A book-to-bill of 0.76 means that JPY76 (US$1) worth of orders were received for every JPY100 of product billed for the month.

The three-month average of worldwide bookings in August 2011 was about JPY83.2 billion. The bookings figure is 9.3% less than the revised July 2011 level of JPY91.75 billion, and 34.7% below the JPY127.47 billion in orders posted in August 2010.

The three-month average of worldwide billings in August 201 was JPY109.96 billion, up 0.1% from the revised level of JPY109.815 billion in July, and 18.9% higher than the August 2010 billings level of JPY92.51 billion.
