IC design houses Holtek Semiconductor, Sonix Technology and Weltrend Semiconductor expect their August revenues to increase significantly mainly because of increasing demand for consumer electronics MCUs in China.
Elan Microelectronics will also see its shipments of MCUs increase in the third quarter, but the decline in shipments of handset touch-panel solutions and modules will offset gains in the MCU line, according to the company.
Elan expects its revenues to drop 5% sequentially to NT$1.65-1.75 billion (US$51.7-54.8 million) in the third quarter.
With shipments of MCUs accounting for 60% of Holtek's total revenues, Holtek is expected to see its third-quarter revenues rise 5% sequentially to NT$1.15 billion, estimated industry sources.
