Second-tier notebook maker Clevo expects shipments to rise 33% on year to 360,000 units in the first quarter of 2010 with volume to reach 480,000 units in the second quarter and total two million units for the year, according to the company.
Benefiting from stable shipments from clients in Latin America and Asia, the company expects its notebook shipments to start climbing in the second quarter.
Clevo is showcasing products featuring Magic of Film Art (MOFA), a technology for printing client-designed patterns on the notebook chassis at CeBIT 2010, the company indicated.
The company already shipped small volumes of MOFA-treated products in 2009 and plans to push the technology aggressively in 2010.
Clevo noted that the MOFA-treated chassis have higher gross margins.
As for the company's retail business in China, Clevo will open its twentieth store in Chongqing, China by the end of April.
