Computex 2009: DS2 showcases 200Mbps powerline communication chipset

Press release; Rodney Chan, DIGITIMES Asia

DS2, a supplier of high-speed powerline communications technology, will launch AITANA++, the third-generation of its 200Mbps powerline communication (PLC) chipset at Computex 2009 (Nangang Hall, M425).

While in use, AITANA++ consumes 30% less power than previous products and in stand-by mode, reduces its consumption by 70%, according to the company. This development not only reduces energy costs, but also simplifies the thermal design for embedded applications such as set top boxes, home gateways, remote speaker systems, IP cameras or personal computers.

AITANA++ also has a complete software development kit (SDK) that allows systems designs to customize firmware running in the chipset's microprocessor. DS2 baseline firmware provides features such as AES-128/256 with push button security, LED status lights, 802.1p/TOS quality of service (QoS) and Multicast support. AITANA++ comes with on-chip support for DS2 features, such as mesh networking for whole home coverage, secure firmware upgrade, complete TCP/IP stack, and support for Microsoft Windows LLTD protocol and TR-069 remote management for service provider applications.
