Taiwan market: Yahoo! Kimo dominates in visitation rate

Yahoo! Kimo, among C2C (customer to customer) online auction platforms in Taiwan, recorded the largest visitation rate of 61.8% of all Internet users in Taiwan in September 2007, according to a survey conducted by Taiwan-based research company InsightXplorer.

There were an estimated 12.41 million Internet users in Taiwan in September 2007 and 8.274 million of them had visited online auction websites, InsightXplorer pointed out. Yahoo! Kimo and Ruten, a joint venture that started in September 2006 by Taiwan-based web portal PChome Online and eBay, were the top two online auction platforms in terms of visitation rate.

About 90% of the Internet users visiting Ruten also visited Yahoo! Kimo, InsightXplorer indicated. Of Internet users visiting online auction websites, 73.6% belonged to the ages of 15-39 and 31.9% were students, InsightXplorers noted.
