With more and more PDP (plasma display panel) TV makers exiting from the market, PDP TV vendors are now seeking closer relationship with Taiwan-based and China-based makers, according to sources.
Hisense and Changhong Electric are two major PDP TV makers in China with monthly sales volume of 5,000-6,000 units in average, said the sources. China-based Skyworth and Xiamen Overseas Chinese Electronics (Xoceco) each has average sales volume of 3,000-4,000 units per month, the sources added.
Major Taiwan-based PDP TV makers include Amtran Technology, TPV Technology, Sampo and Coretronic. The PDP demand from Amtran per month is about 10,000 units thanks to the good sales of Vizio-brand PDP TVs. Although Coretronic is phasing out of the TV market, market sources indicated the maker recently landed PDP TV orders from NEC, with shipments to kick off in July at the soonest.
