Innolux reportedly eyeing CPT capacity

EDN, May 16

Amid a tight capacity for LCD monitor panels, Innolux Display is planning to book 90% of the capacity of Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT), according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN).

Innolux plans to ship 25-26 million LCD monitors in 2007, up more than 50% from 2006, but it only has a fifth-generation (5G) LCD plant with full capacity of 80,000 glass substrates per month and the maker can only produce ten million panels by itself this year, the paper indicated.

Both companies indicated there is indeed a tight panel supply now but denied the report that Innolux plans to book 90% of CPT's capacity, EDN said.
