Seiko Epson on December 12 debuted two new AcuLaser series color laser printer models (C3800N and C3800DN) for the Taiwan market at a recommended retail price of NT$36,900 (US$1,139) and NT$44,900 (US$1,386) respectively.
The two models have the same functionality except that the C3800DN is equipped with a built-in double-side printing unit.
The models are intended to cater to small and medium business users, and support PC-free, which enables printing without the need of connection with a PC, Epson Taiwan indicated.
As prices of home-use color laser printer models in Taiwan have dropped to below NT$10,000 due to intense price competition, Epson has shifted its marketing focus of color laser printers to the business-use segment, Epson Taiwan pointed out. There are an estimated 1.226 million small and medium companies in Taiwan currently, affording a large market potential for color laser printers, Epson Taiwan added.
Epson Taiwan aims to sell 100 C3800N/DN units a month in Taiwan.
