Arima Optoelectronics will announce its merger with LED chipmaker Luxxon Technology by the end of June or beginning of July, at the earliest, according to the Chinese-language Apple Daily.
Arima Opto's president PJ Wang declined to comment on the merger plan but said it is inevitable for the industry to see more consolidation and Arima has targeted several small-size LED chipmakers in Northern Taiwan for partnerships, with announcements to be made in the second half of this year, the paper said.
