A total of 589,000 digital still cameras (DSCs) were sold in Taiwan in 2003, up 126% from 261,000 units in 2002, according to GfK Marketing Services.
The Sony DSC-P10 topped all other models as the best selling DSC in Taiwan last year, followed by the Sony DSC-P8, Fuji (Fujifilm) F410, Nikon 3100, Canon Lixus 400, Nikon SQ, Nikon 430, Nikon 2100, Digilife DGQ4 and Canon A70, the report said.
Nine of the top 10 models were from Japanese brands, with the Digilife DGQ4 being the only local model. All of models had resolutions of between 3- and 4-megapixels.
The Sony DSC-P10 and DSC-P8 together accounted for 25% of sales in the local market and 50% of all Sony DSC sales in Taiwan.
Of the top-selling models, the DSC-P10 carried the second-highest price tag at NT$10,980, trailing after the Canon Lixus 400, which was priced at NT$16,900, the report said.
