Sony starts shipping 1080p MD RPTVs

Sony recently began shipping two new Grand WEGA micro-display rear projection high-definition TV (HDTVs).

The 70-inch KDS-R70XBR2 and 60-inch KDS-R60XBR2, which use Sony's three 0.61-inch SXRD chips, support full resolution of 1,920x1,080 and are based on the company's Silicon X-tal Reflective Display (SXRD) technology. The TVs are available for about US$7,000 and US$4,300, respectively through Sony's retail stores.
