Taiwan-based HY Electronic (HYE) with its automotive diodes has entered into the supply chain of Mercedes-Benz, according to industry sources. A ramp-up of orders for car electronics applications will boost the diode maker's profitability in the second half of 2018.

Meanwhile, with 6-inch wafer prices set to rise at a slow pace, coupled with the company's price adjustment, HYE is expected to see its profits rebound in the second quarter, the sources said.

In addition, HYE's TVS ( transient voltage suppression) diodes have been certified by the AECQ standard and will start attracting orders for 2019, the sources indicated.

HYE has reported consolidated revenues of NT$220 million (US$7.4 million) for May 2018, up 18.2% sequentially and 25.5% on year. The company's cumulative 2018 revenues through May totaled NT$979 million, rising 17.9% from a year earlier.
